Machine<\/a> hosted by a well-known family physician and AI enthusiast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eanbettai\/\">Dr. Ean Bett<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bett\u2019s most recent guest was <a href=\"https:\/\/wellai.health\/team-details-daniel.html\">Daniel Satchkov<\/a>, WellAI\u2019s machine learning lead, who shared his thoughts and offered his vision for the future of AI and digital health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check it out:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/5khdhpTxiVhuizgt9LXSSi\">https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/5khdhpTxiVhuizgt9LXSSi<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the excerpts from the interview.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artificial Intelligence has no intelligence, no creativity and learning.\u00a0 It\u2019s just pattern recognition, pattern repetition and pattern behavior.\u00a0 Humans do have intelligence and creativity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Daniel: <strong>The role of WellAI is to help physicians with the repetitive part and allow physicians to do the creative part, the human part.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At WellAI, we\u2019ve built a model that absorbs millions of medical studies.\u00a0 Based on that it can have a back-and-forth with a human being.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t replace a doctor.\u00a0 But it replaces some initial questioning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The WellAI system saves 12-15 minutes per intake.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not just time.\u00a0 When a doctor or a nurse starts talking to a patient, there is already the initial readout of questions and answers available.\u00a0 The doctor can now be fresh and do a better job.\u00a0 Doctors do make mistakes.\u00a0 Part of it is from other problems in medicine.\u00a0 It\u2019s far too skewed to pharmaceuticals, for example.\u00a0 But the other problem is when you do mundane things when you have to step out of a pattern you are no longer functioning.\u00a0 Your mind functions with these heuristics.\u00a0 Whereas it\u2019s much better to have a doctor always being \u201cin the zone\u201d, always doing creative things for patients, and the machine doing the repetitive tasks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bett: When I have interacted with the WellAI app, it actually found some things that may be based on my training and medical education I would not have thought about.\u00a0 Because of these heuristics or the mundane nature of the questions we ask we may miss some things for patients individually that could be of great benefit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My question is: Was it your intent to find some of these lesser likely diagnoses or considerations because that\u2019s really where I think we can do a great service to each other as individuals, as a physician, and as a patient.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Daniel: That\u2019s right.\u00a0 It was a challenging task.\u00a0 <strong>Our goal was to go beyond rules-based and to avoid the EHR dataset biases.\u00a0 The model we built addresses mundane tasks but also the newer and rarer diseases that the EHR and the ER datasets would not be able to handle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WellAI Team<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wellai.health\/\">wellai.health<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019ve been following us, you know how passionate we are about mathematical models and applications of data science in healthcare.\u00a0 You must then listen to this brand-new episode of Man &#038;
