As we sit around the Thanksgiving table this Thursday, some physically, some virtually, we reflect on the year gone by.\u00a0 A lot has happened.\u00a0 We have certainly experienced what statisticians call a black swan event this year.\u00a0 Extreme life situations result in extreme outcomes.<\/p>\n
Adversity brings the best in humanity.\u00a0 In an unexpected way, I have been blessed that my family have spent many months together at home, and we continue to be blessed, as my oldest daughter just arrived home from college.<\/p>\n
We were also fortunate to find our new work family at WellAI, albeit virtually.\u00a0 We started WellAI because both founders Daniel and Sergei couldn\u2019t find an efficient solution to health situations both of them have experiences with.\u00a0 Due to an egregious misdiagnosis, Daniel almost died and had to spend almost two years recovering.\u00a0 Sergei found a genetic predisposition that runs in my family that he’s been trying to find the most scientific solution possible for some time now.\u00a0 These real-life situations have united us.\u00a0 WellAI is now one family.<\/p>\n
At WellAI, not only employees are family. Unfortunately, I also want to mention some of the challenges and hardships 2020 has created.\u00a0 COVID-19 has been the biggest story of the year.\u00a0 It has resulted in so many sad and heart-breaking situations, unemployment, divorces and, the saddest of all, unnecessary deaths.\u00a0 This year has also brought humanitarian crisis to my home country, Belarus, as my friends and family have become unfortunate hostages to a dictator who has unlawfully taken power and treats Belarusians as prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp.<\/p>\n
We will overcome the adversity.\u00a0 We will conquer COVID-19 \u2013 the first vaccines have already been successfully tested.\u00a0 Dictatorships will fall.\u00a0 Patients will see their doctors, but only when needed.<\/p>\n
